Getting To Know Our New COO

Tapad’s new Chief Operating Officer Mark Connon officially joined the team on July 23rd at our headquarters in New York City. He is a seasoned executive with more than two decades of experience in digital media & advertising and will help drive the strategic direction of the company in addition to overseeing the sales and marketing organizations. He joins the team at a very exciting time and we are equally as excited to bring him on board. To properly welcome Mark to the team, we’ve asked him a few questions to help us get to know him better:

What are you looking forward to most about joining Tapad?

Mark: I am looking forward to working with a great, committed, and experienced team that has the commitment of a world class parent company. I am also looking forward to working with my network to position Tapad as a leading company in an emerging and large space. I have a unique opportunity to utilize my adtech, martech and telco experience to help Tapad grow into a global company within these industries.

What industry trend are you watching most closely and why does it interest you?

Mark: The growth and investment in identity solutions by marketers, brands, etc. is — not surprisingly — something which I have and will continue to watch closely. As the environment continues to become more complex, there will be an increased demand on marketers to bring to their brands advanced identity solutions that enable customer communications across channels. This demand in the identity space will drive the market size to almost $3B in the US in just a few years, and I personally think that is a conservative number. Being at the epicenter of that growth and the opportunity to help brands communicate more effectively with their consumer is exciting for all of us here at Tapad.

What do you hope to bring to the table at Tapad?

Mark: This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of identity and the growing CDP space. I hope to work across the organization to help the company achieve both it’s near and long term goals. I look forward to bringing a perspective on how to effectively grow the business, and an additional perspective on the strategic approach for our product and go-to-market strategies as we look to meet the growing demands for identity solutions across the ecosystem. There is a lot of complexity, and even more opportunity. That’s an environment where I want to work and one where I think I can help Tapad take advantage of the opportunities ahead.

Joining the Tapad team meant moving your family from Boston to New York. What are you most excited about now that you are living here?

Mark: This is going to be an exciting time for me and for my family. I know NYC well having worked here for many years. But that’s not the same as living here. I’m looking forward to experiencing NY as a resident, and my wife and daughter could not be more excited. My sons, both away at college, will enjoy the visits as well I’m sure. It’s going to be a blast. We’ll call the Upper East Side home for now —‚ and always looking for recommendations for good food and fun anywhere in the city.

Now that you’re on your way to being a true New Yorker-- Yankees or Mets?

Mark: I’m moving to NY, but not selling out…:) My roots would not allow me to favor either. The Yankees are the Yankees, and I still remember 1986 (look it up if you don’t get the reference — but it will be clear why the Mets are not an option either). Sorry — Red Sox, Pats, Celtics, Bruins — in that order...but not to worry, I’m not an obnoxious fan, although I guess you’ll be the judge of that.

These are exciting times at Tapad and we are very happy to welcome Mark to our leadership team. His experience and vision for the future will be an invaluable asset to the Tapad team. Welcome aboard, Mark!
